At
the young age of 41, Sri Rao was an accomplished and successful
business person and he sought a higher calling beyond
the confines of a commercial office. Fired by an innate
desire to positively contribute to the country’s
governance and growth, he contested the general elections
and was elected by a popular mandate to the 7th Parliament
as a Lok Sabha Member. Sri Rao is at present a Member
of the Parliament, having achieved this distinction for
4 times now.He has served in numerous policy making bodies
and had the honor of addressing the United Nations General
Assembly in the year 1988.He aspires to continue in public
office & take up higher responsibilities to serve the nation for years to come.
Sri
Rao has also carved out his own unique niche in the areas
of philanthropy and social service. He had founded a Charitable
Trust called Kavuru Foundation, which has trained free
of cost more than 150,000 under privileged youth in vocational
skills. This success has been achieved over the past two
decades and has helped transform many lives. He has played
a significant guiding role and contributed generously
towards development of community halls and health facilities
in scores of backward villages.
While
Progressive has lost the active involvement of a dynamic
entrepreneur like Sri Rao, we derive immense satisfaction
from his nation building activities. At Progressive he
will always be fondly addressed as The Founder. The vision
of this small farmer’s son is being carried forward
